Type of Phenomena: Visiting Spirits and Psychic Impressions
Manifestations: Geiste Ecke, or Ghost Corner is believed to be haunted by various ghosts. The Native American Dam site is believed to be inhabited by spirits of the past. During full moons, drumming sounds have been reported. Ghosts of children have been reported every Christmas night at the Main Amana Cemetery. And a blue aura has been seen above the grave of Mary Wright during the last minute of every year.
Directions: The seven colonies are located off I-80 in Iowa County. Geiste Ecke is a sharp bend in the road near a ravine between Middle and High Amana. Indian Dam is north of Homestead on the Iowa River. Mary Wright's is the only grave left in the old Sprague Cemetery, just west of Homestead on Hwy 6.

Manifestation: The image of a man dressed in winter wear has been seen entering the front door and walking up stairs to the first bedroom.

Manifestation: For a time, every night at 2:00 am, those residing in this house would be awakened by the sound of heavy footfalls coming up the basement steps. The image of a heavy set man would be seen coming up the stairs. The house burned to the ground in 1899.
